This is a rare day when a local broadcaster can say hello to the prime minister and all the premiers who are visiting our province today. The last time we experienced this was back in the 70s when they gathered at the University of Regina for constitutional talks.
Back then First Ministers meetings were quite common. Unlike his father who did these things on a quarterly basis, Justin Trudeau chose not to consult with his provincial and territorial counterparts. Perhaps he had nothing important to talk about or it was just his way of stressing the fabric of our nation with active secessionist forces now at play in two regions.
The new prime minister appears to have embraced the idea that more talk is a better idea, as way to share information and points of view.
Like the fact that Saskatchewan has a voice worth listening to. Not only is our economy growing faster than most in the country, last week’s GDP numbers showed Saskatchewan people are seeing their paying checks rising faster than any other province as well.
