Brandt expanding with plans for Moose Jaw factory

Saskatchewan is going to extend its reach in trailer manufacturing with Regina’s Brandt Group has announced plans for a new utility trailer factory in Moose Jaw.

The firm has held the old General Cable building for about ten years and now intends to use it to house a production line.

The company expects production could be flowing in a few months and is advertising for 70 employees immediately with an eye to growing the payroll to 200 over the next 36 months.

Brandt operates across Canada and into the U.S. and hopes the new facility will ultimately serve those markets, a development that would require expansion of this facility. It also will free up space at the company’s Regina North Works plant.

In announcing the new plant, the company emphasized its local roots and strategy to use local suppliers where possible, for everything from janitorial services to snow removal and general purchases.

This development will add to the province’s expertise as a trailer manufacturer as we already produce lines ranging from the smaller utility units to large highway transports.
