Economic freedom leads to positive outcomes

This may sound counter-intuitive but personal choices lead to better social and economic outcomes when compared to societies where governments exert more authority in the day-to-day lives of their citizens.

The 2025 Economic Freedom of the World report has ranked Canada as #11 among 165 countries in terms of personal latitude in selecting where they want to work, what they want to buy and ability to start a business. But we are sliding backwards …last year we were Number 8.

Hong Kong tops the list globally. Singapore was second. The US was #5.

At the bottom of the list are places such as Venezuela and Iran.

A nation with more economic freedom generally leads to positive outcomes for its citizens.

In the top 25 nations: incomes are seven-times higher than in those with little freedom, life expectancy is longer, infant mortality is lower, people work an average of seven fewer hours a week, environments are cleaner, governments are less corrupt and those at the bottom of the income scale do 8-times better than their counterparts in nations with low economic freedom.
