Saskatchewan is a capital magnet right now.
Private capital investment is projected to surpass $16 billion this year. That’s ten-percent higher than last year which was 17-percent higher than 2023. In short, Saskatchewan is attracting a lot of investment capital these days.
That was reinforced by figures on the amount of money being invested in new construction in the province. September’s figures show Saskatchewan saw a seven-percent increase over August – that was tops among the provinces. And it brought the total for the 12 months ending in August to $625 million, a 14-percent improvement over the year.
The bulk of the activity – about two-thirds of it – was directed towards residential construction with single family units claiming the lion’s share of that investment.
September’s performance represented a gain of $27 million in new single-family units being built which translates into nearly a 10-percent improvement. Only Manitoba had a stronger number.
On non-residential activity, Saskatchewan posted a gain of two-percent, second only to Nova Scotia.
