Canadians are getting the entrepreneurial bug. Again.
A new survey for RBC shows the last time Canadians were this fired up about starting their own business was 2017, a couple years before the COVID epidemic.
59-percent of us are feeling the urge to start a business, according to this survey. Here in Saskatchewan that number is slightly higher at 60-percent but that is still at the lower end of the scale. Ontario, at 68-percent, is showing the highest willingness to embrace the entrepreneurial lifestyle.
But, even among those who won’t outright say they are willing to become entrepreneurs, a large percentage see it as a viable option for making a living. On that metric, 80-percent of Canadians see owning your own business as a solid alternative.
Once you get on the entrepreneurship track, though, it is not a straight road. Six-in-ten people who already own a business say they’ve had to pivot in the past year while five-in-ten say they have had to make profound changes to their business model.
Even so the vast majority are optimistic about their prospects.
