Saskatchewan growth predicted to continue into 2026

Saskatchewan will remain among the top performers in economic growth in the country for the next 18 months.

Private forecasters and the chartered banks usually update their economic outlooks every three months and we’re now starting to see the fall assessments flow in. The first out of the gate is RBC Royal Bank, an outfit that offers reports that tend to be bullish on Saskatchewan.

The latest is in line with that trend. It has Saskatchewan in third place for growth this year behind Newfoundland and Alberta. Next year, we will be second, just a tick behind perennial leader Alberta. In both years, we’re well ahead of the national average.

Growth this year will hit 2.2-percent and 2.1 in 2026.

The report is also helpful in determining which weight class we make when compared to other provinces. For example, we have 250,000 fewer people than Manitoba but our economy is nearly 10-percent larger at $83 billion compared to $75 billion. That means we are roughly four-percent of the national economy…they are three percent.
