Saskatchewan remains one of the best places to find work in Canada

The provincial labor market is tightening up. That makes it harder for employers to find candidates to fill vacant jobs and offers fewer choices for those looking for employment.

Even with this tightening up, though, Saskatchewan remains one of the best places in the country if you’re on the hunt for a new job.

The latest job vacancy report shows the number of empty positions has dropped in the last month. It went down roughly 700 spots to 17,500. That leaves us with a vacancy rate of 3.4-percent. That is the highest in the country.

StatsCan says one region of the province was particularly noticeable though… the Moose Jaw – Swift Current corridor had the second biggest drop in unfilled jobs of any region in the nation. While the federal agency does not offer an explanation for this development, it can be that employers are not creating as many jobs or that they have been able to attract talent at a faster rate.

The sectors posting the biggest growth in vacancies nationally is medical diagnostics and drywall installation.
