Saskatchewan showing strong growth

It is early stages yet but the mid-term economic growth forecasts are starting to arrive and we can see a trend about Saskatchewan’s performance compared to the rest of the country.

The latest report comes from RBC Royal Bank. They say they were surprised at how well Saskatchewan did last year, posting growth of 3.4-percent which led the country.

Now they are saying we will be in third place this year behind Newfoundland and Labrador as well as Alberta. Clearly, the oil producing provinces are ones riding the crest of strong growth.

And then in 2026, Saskatchewan will move up to second place behind Alberta with growth exceeding 2-percent each year. This correlates well with data from the Conference Board last week that had Saskatchewan tied with Alberta in first place this year and then we were alone at the top next year.

RBC says strength in potash and uranium are providing considerable lift to our economy with global demand on the rise. The bank also notes that we are less vulnerable to US-imposed tariffs which will help support our growth trend.
