This is a great day to eat in a restaurant.
Saskatchewan is joining the chorus of other provinces participating in Food Day in Canada. It’s the 21st annual event designed to bring attention to those who grow, prepare and deliver our food each day.
This is obviously big stuff in Saskatchewan which boasts the nation’s largest agricultural land base and an economy that enjoys agriculture as one of its foundational pillars.
Last year alone we exported more than twenty billion dollars’ worth of agricultural food products in addition to the output we consume here at home.
Harvest is set to begin and, in fact, has already begun in some parts of the province so it is a perfect time to remember the individuals who work to put food on tables.
Organizers recommend we take this opportunity to celebrate yourself as a home cook by trying out a new recipe, perhaps take the time to learn a bit about how food production happens or to patronize a restaurant in support of the industry.
