The first Saskatchewan company to secure a dual listing on both the Toronto and London stock exchanges started trading in Europe today.
Gensource Potash is a Saskatoon-based potash start-up with plans for a mine at Tugaske. It began trading on AIM – the London exchange’s venture arm – this morning, complementing its activity on Toronto’s Venture exchange where it has been listed for years.
The company is headed by Mike Ferguson, an engineer who was instrumental in getting the Bethune-area Potash One Legacy project over the finish line which triggered a takeover by K + S. That freed him up to pursue his next project and he chose Gensource with an idea to build a different kind of mine.
The Tugaske project is small scale by Saskatchewan standards and will be dedicated to a single customer – a German fertilizer buyer. The concept can then be repeated if other customers come forward.
It is a solution mine but, unlike most in the province, it will not bring salt to the surface so it will not have to manage tailings.
