This is the kind of stuff a business owner likes to show to the bank.
Saskatchewan manufacturers have generally been enjoying a good run even in the face of COVID and they were one of the anchors that kept our economy rolling during the pandemic.
While it wasn’t a totally smooth ride – there were some bumps along the way – but they fared quite well. And, nationally, they are a standout. We have just received July’s revenue figures for the sector and Saskatchewan manufacturers posted a sales increase of more than 55% compared to the same month a year ago.
No other province even came close to that improvement and the national average was only 12 points ahead of last year.
There was also a month-over-month gain of roughly four percent – one of only a few provinces that posted an increase at all as those with strong agricultural manufacturing bases seemed to be showing the best results as automotive numbers were down in Ontario which pulled the overall national figures into the red.
