Manufacturers in Saskatchewan have been on a solid growth track.
We’ve seen consistent expansion from these players for a couple years and, generally, the numbers they have been generating have pushed Saskatchewan to the top of the list among the provinces. And that trend is showing no signs of abatement.
Manufacturing sales revenues for October have just been released and, once again, Saskatchewan is in the upper echelons.
Revenues grew in the neighborhood of 27 per cent in the last year provincewide. That was on par with the best performers nationally and, it is interesting to see, the three prairie provinces turned in the best numbers of all – in the range of 25 to 30 per cent growth.
At the civic level, the story is not much different. Our breakdown includes factories in the province’s two major cities and October saw a 25 per cent gain in Regina as output approached the $1-billion mark for a single month while Saskatoon plants generated sales that were 35 per cent higher than a year earlier at $550 million. Only Quebec City had a stronger growth track than Saskatoon.
