The strength of Saskatchewan’s consumer market is a highlight of the latest update on new vehicle sales in the province. In short it is strong.
Retailing new cars and trucks was not an easy game through COVID and then in the year or more after the pandemic that it took to get supply chains working efficiently. But it seems the industry has found its footing and, in Saskatchewan, consumers were ready.
We have just seen November’s figures. Now, these represent sales of new vehicles and does not include the pre-owned or the used market. But November marked the ninth consecutive month that saw more than 4,000 units leave dealer lots in the month.
It was just slightly stronger than the same month last year, a sign that the market is stable and consumer willingness to commit to a major purchase such as a new vehicle offers some insight into the state of our economy. It not only shows the effects of population growth but is an indicator that consumer confidence is running high.
