Regina and Saskatoon promoted by U.S. website as affordable cites

It is not only local governments in this province who are crowing about our cost of living. A US-based website is talking us up too — and regularly.

In the past month, the website GoBankingRates.com has mentioned Regina no less than three times in stories it featured on places to retire or live inexpensively. And Saskatoon was listed in there too.

In one story, Regina ranked #1 on the site’s Top 10 Places to Retire places to retire on a budget of $5,000 a month or less. Saskatoon stood in 10th spot on that one.

In another feature listing the seven best Canadian cities to live on with an income of less than USD$100,000 Regina again ranked #1. Other featured cities included Calgary and Vancouver so it is easy to see how we beat them but we even stood ahead of Lethbridge in this ranking which includes things such as amenities and lifestyle.

The province’s graduate retention program also earned a story of its own under the headline this place will pay you to live there.
