We always talk about Saskatchewan being a place that feeds the world. And we’re getting the logistics of that assignment better all the time.
Anyone who looks closely while driving around Regina on the new Bypass will see a new intermodal facility on the city’s east side called InterMobil. It’s partnered with CN Rail and part of the Mobil Grain operation that runs the rail line along Highway 11 between Saskatoon and Regina. It’s also linked to AGT the big pulse crop handler and processor.
The operation, which opened late last year, is a state-of-the-art facility capable of turning empty containers into full ones quickly. It has done so well it is already meeting its volume projections expected 10 years from now and has been able to maintain its operations through the blockades as well as COVID.
It also means that Regina’s importance as a transportation hub is growing with the CP Intermodal facility on the west side of the city and now a CN link on the east side, giving Saskatchewan producers and manufacturers access to every global shipping line.
