It is interesting what happens when you are forced to step outside your comfort zone.
One thing that was forced upon us during COVID lockdown was to adapt to doing things on-line. For some of us that meant using things like Zoom or Teams to interact with business colleagues. And, the next thing you know, we’ve expanded its use to Virtual cocktail parties.
We had to learn how to shop on line and do curbside pick-up. And, for some – especially older members of our community – it meant learning how to bank on-line.
And learn we did. CIBC reported this week that people over the age of 65 were signing up for digital banking in droves in April: new registrants in this demographic rose a remarkable 250-percent in that month.
Utilization increased across the board, according to the bank, but the growth in seniors embracing the technology was especially notable. The old adage that the only way to grow is to step outside your comfort zone is clearly in play here. And, the lesson for all of us in this….try it, you’ll like it.
