People in Saskatchewan ready to cut back to manage finances rising due to inflation

Residents of Saskatchewan are more willing to cut back on non-essentials than other Canadians as we find ways to cope with the rising cost of living.

A poll conducted for RBC Royal Bank asked citizens across the land about their flexibility or, perhaps more accurately, falling flexibility on the financial front as prices go up.

The big picture answers went like this:

  • I have never been more stressed about my finances.
  • I’d like to save more but can’t and,
  • I fear falling behind financially.

A third of the population does not have an emergency fund which is lowering the level of financial flexibility everywhere, according to the survey.

Here in Saskatchewan, we are more likely than almost everyone else in the country to be willing to trim our spending on travel, dining out or entertaining to manage our money more effectively. Only people in Newfoundland were found to be more willing to cut those expenses.

Generally, we seem more attuned to these financial challenges than the rest of the country and more willing to take decisive action to deal with them.
