Welcome to Day 50 of Isolation brought on by COVID-19. That’s the tally in our household meaning we are now into our eighth week of doing things differently.
For some it is just another day when the business is closed. The second rent check of the pandemic was due last week and, with cash flow stalled, anxiety levels are not subsiding.
For others, finding a rhythm in a period of excessive demand is the challenge. Grocery stores and their supply chains along with those dealing with the daily reporting of new cases and containment of the virus are just trying to keep up.
And then there are those in the middle – the ones figuring out how to replace face-to-face interaction with video conferences. This has triggered varying degrees of business slowdown or, for some, perhaps even some growth.
But as we enter Day 50 we also enter Day One of Re-Opening. Some of the new habits we learned in the past seven weeks will be dropped while others will become the new normal but getting back to the ‘old’ normal – where we watch a live CFL game at Mosaic – is no doubt still a long ways off.
