Saskatchewan’s billion dollar forestry sector supports about 8,000 jobs and was thrust into the limelight again recently when the COVID pandemic forced many of us into self-isolation.
Known for making lumber, OSB and pulp products, more than half of the province is covered in trees so forestry is big business for us. Its importance was reinforced with the hoarding of toilet paper, a reminder that when people are setting their priorities in a pandemic, forest products are top of mind.
