Saskatchewan residents feels good about their Christmas spending

Our Christmas spending shows we are a frugal bunch in Saskatchewan, but we aren’t the Grinch either.

That’s the finding of a survey of Canadians for RBC Royal Bank which asked if we had held the line on Christmas spending last year or if we went the other way and blew the budget.

It turns out most of us did set aside the budget and spent a little more than expected. But here in Saskatchewan, if we did overspend, we overspent the least at $320.

It turns out about one-third of us managed to the blow the budget and when men over spent, they really over spent compared to women.

In the end, they asked participants if they felt great about how they managed their Christmas spending, good because they went over but were still on track or if they felt only OK and had some work to do to right the ship. Saskatchewan had the highest percentage in the middle category – we felt good about our fiscal management.

Here’s an interesting tidbit. In Saskatchewan, at 55 per cent, we are more likely to pay cash than to charge our Christmas spending, second only to Atlantic Canadians.
