With Valentine’s Day less than two weeks away, love is in the air at this time of year. But, with a pandemic gripping the world, this year is unlike any other. And that prompted the folks at TD Canada Trust to ask how we’re feeling about love and money right now. The talked to both Canadians and Americans to see if we are viewing the world differently.
They discovered that the pandemic has meant couples are talking more about their finances. And those surveyed went so far as to say that ‘not talking to your partner about money’ is the #1 mistake they make.
The pandemic has prompted many couples on both sides of the border to postpone or scale back their wedding plans, including more than half the Canadians who were polled.
They say saving has been a by-product of the pandemic with nearly 90-percent currently setting aside cash for the future and the financial realities brought on by COVID have made it easier to talk to a partner about dollars and cents. Yet, twice as many Canadians say it is easier to find love than financial success
