If you are losing sleep worrying about your personal finances, survey results released by Scotiabank shows you are not alone – especially here in Saskatchewan.
However, those same results also show a solution has been found by some looking to ease their worries.
The team at ScotiaBank’s Global Asset Management group has come up with what they call the Worry Poll. In addition to that Worry Poll, Scotiabank also updated its Investor Sentiment Survey.
It found that as 2021 ended, the number of Canadians who were worried about their ability to save for retirement properly had risen to one in three.
They say that coincides with the Worry Poll findings too as more of us are finding COVID-19 is getting in the way of financial planning and our ability to set money aside for life after work.
The Worry Poll says the average Canadian is losing 10 hours of sleep a week as they brood over personal finances. That is three weeks a year.
Here in Saskatchewan the situation is more dramatic. People worrying here are losing 13 hours a week. That’s about 30 per cent higher than the national average.
The best tonic for solving the problem? Their surveys show these stress levels go down a lot when working with a professional financial advisor.
